Stanford University Knight-Hennessy Scholars (KHS) Program 2027 Overview
The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program at Stanford University is a fully funded graduate fellowship designed to develop transformational global leaders. Scholars receive funding for any full-time Stanford graduate degree (DCA, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MS, or PhD) while participating in the King Global Leadership Program (KGLP), an integrated curriculum featuring leadership workshops, expert lectures, and collaborative problem-solving projects.
Eligibility Criteria
- Academic Background: Must have earned a Bachelor's degree from January 2020 onwards (for entry in Autumn 2027).
- Enrollment Status: Must meet one of the following enrollment tracks:
- Applying concurrently to KHS and a full-time Stanford graduate degree program.
- Deferred prior admission to a full-time Stanford graduate degree program to start KHS concurrently.
- Current Stanford graduate student applying to add a second full-time graduate degree program.
- Current Stanford PhD student in their first year of study, applying to begin KHS in their second year.
- Core Qualities: Independence of thought, purposeful leadership, and a civic mindset across all academic disciplines.

- Stanford graduate program application (submitted separately to the specific department)
- Resume / CV detailing leadership achievements and impacts
- Unofficial transcripts from all attended higher education institutions
- Two (2) KHS recommendation letters (distinct from department references)
- Three (3) short answer responses and one 600-word personal essay
- Video submission (upon invitation)
How to Apply
- Review the application requirements for your chosen Stanford graduate degree program.
- Submit your online Knight-Hennessy Scholars application by the official deadline: October 7, 2026 (1:00 PM Pacific Time).
- Submit your full-time Stanford graduate degree application by your specific department's deadline or December 1, 2026 (whichever comes first).
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit a video statement and attend the Immersion Weekend selection process.
