UK Government Chevening Scholarship 2027/2028 Overview
Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and partner organizations, the Chevening Scholarship is the UK government’s flagship global awards program. It enables outstanding emerging leaders from around the world to pursue a fully funded, one-year Master’s degree in any subject at any UK university, equipping them to build professional networks and drive positive change in their home countries.
Eligibility Criteria
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
- Academic Background: Hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK upper second-class (2:1) honors degree (applicants with a 2:2 may qualify if supported by a relevant Master's or Postgraduate Diploma).
- Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years (2,800 hours) of verifiable work experience (full-time, part-time, or voluntary).
- Return Requirement: Must return to your home country for a minimum of 2 years after completing the scholarship.
- Prior Degrees: Candidates holding a Master's degree remain eligible if they clearly demonstrate how a second Master's advances their career goals.

Required Documentation
- Completed online application form including leadership and networking essays
- Certified copies of academic transcripts and degree certificates
- Two written professional or academic reference letters
- Unconditional offer letter from at least one eligible UK Master’s degree program
- Official passport / valid national photo identification
How to Apply
- Visit the official Chevening online application portal and select your country of citizenship.
- Complete the initial registration and draft your four core Chevening application essays (Leadership, Networking, Studying in the UK, and Career Plan).
- Select up to three eligible UK university Master's courses and apply for admission directly to those universities.
- Submit your completed Chevening application online before the official global closing deadline.
- If conditionally selected, attend an interview at the British Embassy or High Commission and upload your references and unconditional university offer.
